Department of Human Services - Office of Housing
The Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Housing provides a range of housing assistance programs to Victorians, including direct tenure public rental housing; and financial assistance to people in the private rental sector and home ownership assistance.
GJK Facility Services currently services three key metropolitan regions for the Office of Housing covering over 21 high-rise buildings, 400+ low rise, and tenanted properties. GJK Facility Services provides cleaning services of common areas, office accommodation and public community facilities including grounds and gardens maintenance and waste management for the estates.
GJK Facility Services is proud to have participated in exceeding all benchmarks with the Victorian State Government's pilot project in the Public Tenant's in community based contract at Atherton Gardens and Collingwood Estates.
The Public Tenant Employment Program (PTEP) is about creating employment for people who live in public housing; it is a partnership between the Office of Housing’s Property Services & Neighbourhood Renewal. The aim is to link jobs for people who live in public housing through the contracts that are let for work on the housing. Some of the key aims will be to extend the inclusion of a public tenant employment clause into contracts, with an initial focus on the cleaning & gardening and security contracts.
An employment clause in the cleaning and gardening contract ensures that a minimum of 35% of employees will be public tenants. GJK have well exceeded this target and employed 50 % so far, or 22 tenants.
During the period of our Contract, GJK Facility Services have received two letters of commendation from the Ed David, Director of Property Services, Department of Human Services. View letter from Ed David, 03/12/05 View letter from Ed David, 14/05/05
